Sponsor a Student

Sponsoring one of our young adults makes an incredible difference in their life. You will be giving them the opportunity to be closely discipled, educated, and equipped so that they can lead a life filled with purpose and hope.

We suggest sponsorship of £30/$40 per student per month. This would allow 5 sponsors to fully sponsor a student throughout their university education. However, any amount you wanted to give would go a very long way, and it is completely up to you.

Please click on our students' profiles below to learn more about them or to start sponsoring them!

OUR PAST STUDENTS

Once our students graduate, we support them for a further 3/4 months. During this time we help our student find employment and a house to live on their own. Each student will always be part of the New Routes family even as they move out of the programme.

Once a student graduates from our programme, we will give sponsors the opportunity to continue contact with their student.

STUDENT SPONSORSHIP BREAKDOWN

Our programme is costly per student. This is because we cover almost every expense that our students incur during their time at university and whilst they are on our programme (4-5 years).

On average, it costs about KES 1,8 million (£12,000/$14,500) per student to complete the programme.

We have decided to be as comprehensive as we are in terms of financial support to our students for two reasons:

1. We want our students to start life debt-free. If we really want to break the cycle of generational poverty we believe this 'clean break' is necessary. This allows our students to be able to confidently start and support their own families, and become truly self-sufficient. This is made possible by them not owing large sums of money to others.

2. Without such comprehensive support, every one of our students would simply not be able to go to university at all. Even relatively inexpensive costs are too great a financial hurdle for these extremely needy families.

Due to these high sponsorship costs, most of our students are sponsored by more than one person.

It takes a village to raise a child.

This is how we see our groups of sponsors - they are creating a village of support around our students – not just financially but also emotionally, spiritually, and practically.
